When hunting harvests were immense

In the 19th century and early 20th century, there were few laws and fewer game wardens to limit the number of game animals that individuals could kill.

My history column this week looks at some of the impact from both sport hunters and market hunters.

The painting here shows the huge caravan of one sport hunter who traveled through Colorado in the early 19th century.
