A warning, a war, and a dangerous trek

This is the second of my two columns about the Utah War of 1857-58, and Captain R.B. Marcy's winter journey through the mountains of Western Colorado. In this one, he and his small command of soldiers barely survive in the deep snow near Cochetopa Pass.
